Our Mission Statement

Since 1982, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clinton has been creating magic in the lives of area children and their adult friends and mentors. BBBS works to help children achieve their highest potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships.

The Matching Process

Bigs

Adult volunteers call Big Brothers Big Sisters to set up an intake interview. The interview determines a good match between you and a Little person from our waiting list.

Littles

Parents or legal guardians of children call our office to set up their intake interview. During this interview, we talk with both the parent and child to establish that the program is right for you. We also collect information to make a good match with a Big person.

Match

In the next step, we match a Big with a Little using information collected during the intake process about personality, preferences, and interests. We then share non-identifying information with each party. If you agree, we hold a match meeting. When you have met, you may choose to agree to the match. To learn more about the various match options, take a look at Mentoring Programs.

Support

We provide support services for Matches. We will call twice in the first month of the match and once a month for the first year. After that first year, we will contact you about 4 times per year, or more often if needed. Contacts in person count for two contact calls. Please remember that if you need additional support, you can call us at (563)243-4223. We are here to strengthen and enrich your match.

Safety

Child safety is the top priority of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Although we have a plan in place to deal with allegations of wrongdoing by Bigs, we have never had to use it. Our volunteers simply want to help and be true friends with a child. Also, our risk management plan protects both Bigs and Littles. Please call (563)243-4223 for more details.

Little Moments BIG Magic

Think back to your childhood. Think about the person in your childhood who shared new experiences and ideas with you. Perhaps it was a teacher, a coach, or a grandparent. Regardless, they introduced you to new worlds and brought little moments of magic into your life. By becoming a Big Brother, Big Sister, or Big Couple you too can make the ordinary extraordinary to a child.
